Man Found Not Guilty in Drug Sweep Case.
A Fort Myers man who was arrested as part of the first phase of “Operation Dunbar”, a multijurisdictional task force designed to arrest drug dealers, was found not guilty Monday in federal court. Erick Perry, 35, was the last of 21 suspects charged in the roundup, which was concluded in August 2005. Police arrested 60 people after the 18-month investigation. Perry was charged with conspiracy to possession with intent to distribute, distribute or manufacture 500 grams of cocaine and 50 grams of crack cocaine. His attorney, David Brener, said the jury deliberated about three hours before acquitting him Monday.
The trial started Jan. 23. Perry had been in jail since his arrest.
